The Gold Coast West Hollywood closing for good. Where will all the Old Coast chicken hawks go now?

The owner sounds really bitter. Reading some of the comments below the article, he basically planed to go out a month ago taking down the sign and denied he was going out of business. Then lied and said it was because of the riots. Patrons have nothing good to say about him. He is blaming everyone but himself it seems. Almost 40 years as a gay bar. Shame he just didn't sell it to someone who would keep it gay.

I said before, all the old Boomer gays heading for retirement are in it for themselves. They are not passing the torch like was done for them by their predecessors. Cashing out the the highest bidder. Me, Me, Me to the grave!

It wasn't always like that.

I am totally gutted. The gold coast was the last divey type bar in WeHo. The drinks were cheap, it was an interesting mix of all types and they had a really god happy hour. It wasn't amazing but there aren't many dive bars left in WeHo. Motherload was but it's had a makeover. That's really a bummer. There isn't going to be anything left. We lost Rage, Flaming Saddles, Gym Bar, and now the Mold Coast just during the last 6 months of COVID. Most of the bartenders have been there forever. This is also a loss of jobs. These guys were not young.

The owner of all the real estate where these bars are is gay. I'm surprised he did't work with them but then it's real estate.
