It has been a while since an update. I love this guy and his character(s). I'm nervous about this. Yeah, Mary! Whatever. ABQ hospitals are a quick air flight away from Santa Fe, or even the SF Bay Area. If he can get to a good hospital, fingers and toes crossed that he will be fine. That said, the "quietness" coming from his camp has me worried.

R50 Money, honey. It is where the rich people live. I love ABQ, but their medical facilities are a joke.
This is starting to remind me of the radio silence that went down when Carrie Fisher died. Maybe he's already been transported back to California and they are rounding up his wife/relatives to "make some decisions". I do hope I am wrong.
| by Anonymous | reply 54 | July 28, 2021 4:00 PM |
It’s worrisome r54 . Why no updates ? Usually when celebrities in the hospital and they are OK they usually send out a message or a tweet
| by Anonymous | reply 55 | July 28, 2021 4:02 PM |
No update probably means he's not dead. When Carrie Fisher collapsed we knew that someone had tried to revive her on the plane, and people who were on the plane said she didn't ever regain consciousness. We knew it was coming. The complete lack of information about this makes me think they're still running tests and trying to figure out what happened. It's only 9:00 a.m. in Albuquerque right now, 8:00 a.m. if he's been transferred to a California hospital already.

From Bryan's Instagram:
bryancranston's profile picture bryancranston Verified Today I woke up to news that has made me anxious all morning. My friend, Bob Odenkirk collapsed last night on the set of Better Call Saul. He is in the hospital in Albuquerque and receiving the medical attention he needs but his condition is not known to the public as yet. Please take a moment in your day today to think about him and send positive thoughts and prayers his way, thank you.

He took a wrong turn at Albuquerque.

Massive heart attack

Aortic tear
He cracked his noggin very badly when he collapsed and they need to keep his brain from swelling .
He has a serious spinal injury from his collapse that requires fusion

Okay, I can see how that's supposed to read now. I thought that was a break somewhere in the list. They forgot to add exhaustion, though.
| by Anonymous | reply 83 | July 28, 2021 5:02 PM |
They are reporting that he collapsed on set.
Collapsed --2. (of a person) fall down and become unconscious, typically through illness or injury.
| by Anonymous | reply 84 | July 28, 2021 5:02 PM |
And then people immediately started acting as if it had been reported elsewhere, r81.
I doubt r73 meant anything by it but Dataloungers are notoriously unable to read or discern speculation from truth, and once he posted that list, people were going to take it as more than some rando's list of random things that might have happened.
R78 didn't do anything wrong. Sometimes you just have to tell people to calm the hell down.
| by Anonymous | reply 85 | July 28, 2021 5:05 PM |
r84, TMZ made it clear that they didn't know if he was unconscious or not when he was taken away by ambulance. The implication was that he had been but may have been awake by the time the ambulance got there. Nobody knows for sure.

Agree r110 Also Cranston's message was rather somber.
Aaron Paul's message with the black heart wasn't exactly cuddly "everything will be fine"
Michael Mckean "Sending huge love to our @mrbobodenkirk. You got this, brother." Could be anything.
Rhea Seehorn hasn't said anything at all and that freaks me out the most. From everything I've read, they are very close. Maybe she's hovering in the hospital.

R121, actually they have. I guess not out of respect but I think they’d be excoriated if they posted news of a death or something like that while the family is still in the middle of it. Of course, they didn’t do this when Michael Jackson died, but basically they have for other celebrities.
However—they know the scope, and they know they will be the first to report any deaths.

R126, I would say that that story would have been broken by anyone who had the info, regardless of whether the family knew. TMZ was the organization that got it first. It was that big of a story, one of the biggest in 2020.
We all love Bob Odenkirk, but his passing isn’t on the level of Kobe’s. That said, if I’m implying that TMZ has a heart, that’s not my intent. They’re just reading the room. If this were someone on a level of Kobe, they wouldn’t sit on it.

A tiny nugget of new info, that isn't really helpful. From the Washington Post:
Odenkirk was filming “Better Call Saul” in New Mexico when he collapsed and was surrounded by crew members, who called an ambulance, his representative told NBC News. The Associated Press reported that Odenkirk remained in the hospital on Tuesday night.
His wife and manager, Naomi Odenkirk, referred questions to his publicists, who did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
| by Anonymous | reply 137 | July 28, 2021 6:42 PM |
Thanks r137. That was 9 hours ago and still nothing from the publicists.
Just guessing of course but I'd have to say that, at this point, if we're not hearing anything it's because no one knows yet how he's doing.

I agree with the upthread poster who surmised that Bob Odenkirk is dead and that his publicists and the hospital staff are just giving time for friends and family to say their goodbyes. This is basicallywhat happened with Luke Perry; the announcement of his death was delayed a few hours to give his family time to mourn. This isn't an unusual process in such cases.
| by Anonymous | reply 142 | July 28, 2021 7:26 PM |
Not time to mourn. Time to make arrangements.
| by Anonymous | reply 143 | July 28, 2021 7:28 PM |
I remember fellow cast members, family, and friends going in and out of the hospital when it was suspected that Luke Perry had died without any official announcement. Some of them left the hospital in tears. That's indeed a morning period. Only after this period was the public announcement made.

TMZ must have had someone in ABQ (at the hospital and/or coroner's office) hours ago, if there was anything to report, I'm sure we'd know about it. I'm not saying it won't happen but I don't think we're at the "keep him on life support until we get all the publicity worked out" stage yet.
I really think the lack of news means he's not fine, but he's also not dead, and that people don't know what his status is yet.
Kind of surprised we haven't even gotten something like a screen capture of a text a crew member sent a friend about what happened, or an account from a fan who was hanging out near the set, or some bystander at the hospital. Not a peep. Very odd.

A few posters have suggested a coma. Maybe they are waiting for him to come out of it, and determine how he seems before saying anything?

I have bad vibes about his situation. I want to be wrong but I can't shake them.

If he were dead, they would have said so by now. If he had any kind of medical emergency and there was any hope of recovery, there would have been an update by now. So that leaves life support. They are waiting for family to arrive and say their goodbyes before taking him off life support.

Offsite Link| by Anonymous | reply 177 | July 28, 2021 9:28 PM |
It happened at 6:30pm or before yesterday, about 8:30pm east coast time. For there to be no update or even media quotes from anonymous sources by this point is indeed very odd this day and time. At least one of his children is very media savvy and works in the business and there’s been no update on his Twitter account either. It’s especially odd that TMZ does it have it pinned at the top of their site and it’s running about three stories down with the last update being some blathering from thirsty Bryan Cranston. Typically TMZ would have snoops all over the hospital, Coroner’s offices and inside cast and crew hotels and would have posted a omething, anything. So even for them this is very odd. Poor Bob Odenkirk. 😢

He likely hasn't regained consciousness (assuming he fell and hit his head when he collapsed), so, if the doctors don't have anything to tell the family, the family (or publicists) have nothing to tell us.
We need him to wake up and be his usual fabulous Bob self. I think that's what is going on here.
I would feel so much better if he was in a Los Angeles or San Francisco hospital, however. I've had my share of ABQ hospital experiences, and they were low quality, to put it politely.
| by Anonymous | reply 180 | July 28, 2021 9:43 PM |
If he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage, he could be in surgery - same with an abdominal or aortic aneurysm. These are very long and touchy surgeries and sometimes require a second trip to the OR. Outcomes are not always known right away if he is in the ICU. It's understandable that family might not want to share any details at this point.
Whatever it is, I hope he pulls through. 58 is too young to go.

Bob Odenkirk was hospitalized for a "heart-related incident" ... sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ, and it was touch-and-go for the last day but it looks like he's now out of the woods.
Bob is awake inside an Albuquerque hospital and we're told he's on the rebound, but when he was rushed to the hospital Tuesday after collapsing on set it did not look good. We're told he was not conscious during the early hours in the hospital, although he's now lucid.
Bob's rep tells TMZ, "Bob and his family would like to express gratitude for the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, as well as his cast, crew and producers who have stayed by his side."
The rep goes on ... "The Odenkirks would also like to thank everyone for the outpouring of well wishes and ask for their privacy at this time as Bob works on his recovery."
TMZ broke the story ... Bob was rushed to a New Mexico hospital Tuesday night after collapsing on the set of his show "Better Call Saul."
Production sources told us Bob and the rest of the cast were shooting when the incident happened, with Odenkirk going down and being immediately surrounded by crew members as they called an ambulance.
By Wednesday morning, Bob's close friend from his "Breaking Bad" days, Bryan Cranston, was calling on fans to send positive thoughts and prayers Odenkirk's way, saying he was anxious to learn his pal was hospitalized.

Excuse me, Bernie didn't collapse. He had chest pains. -----------
The Vermont independent senator, 78, was hospitalized Tuesday after experiencing chest pains at a campaign stop in Nevada. He was treated for what his 2020 presidential campaign described at the time as a blockage in one artery.
But a statement from Sanders' doctors released through the campaign on Friday said Sanders "was diagnosed with a myocardial infarction," a medical term for a heart attack.
"The Senator was stable upon arrival and taken immediately to the cardiac catheterization laboratory, at which time two stents were placed in a blocked coronary artery in a timely fashion," the doctors' statement said. "All other arteries were normal."
They said he's made good progress in his recovery "and was discharged with instructions to follow up with his personal physician.”
In a statement, Sanders said, "After two and a half days in the hospital, I feel great, and after taking a short time off, I look forward to getting back to work."

Doing all of that hardcore training for two bloody years for his action movie could not have helped. You go from average guy, build and habits at 56, only to freak out your system by 58. You will pay for it if not right away, you will the later you go in life. My stupid sermon said, I am beyond relieved he will be OK. I'm saying that with a touch of care as heart shit is tricky and things can go sideways, but sending speedy recovery vibes all of the same.

They're saying that because it wasn't a heart attack. It's pretty obvious they want to be clear that it wasn't an actual heart attack but it WAS heart related.
The TMZ article said a source called it "touch and go for a while" which makes me wonder if he had emergency surgery. That would explain the wait. Could have been an aortic aneurism or something.

There are "heart related issues" that are not necessarily a "massive heart attack" - one of the most common is atrial fibrillation, an arrhythmia which causes the heart to beat rapidly and ineffectively. It most certainly can cause "collapse" and loss of consciousness. There are other arrhythmias too, including supraventricular tachycardia and premature ventricular contraction. Treatment is designed to slow and regulate the heartbeat, as well as to prevent blood clots, and may include medication and/or electrical conversion, possible cardiac ablation procedures and anticoagulants. Fortunately a fib is very treatable these days, which is why you see Eliquis and Xarelto commercials every five minutes.
Yes, like Bernie, he may have some degree of coronary artery disease which might have required stents, but he's a tad young for this unless he was/is a heavy smoker. He's LUCKY this was a witnessed event - if he had been alone in his hotel room at night it may have been a different story. Very thankful he received immediate treatment!!!

| by Anonymous | reply 280 | July 29, 2021 6:06 PM |
R277, if you watch him you'll want to have sex with him and then marry him.
| by Anonymous | reply 281 | July 29, 2021 6:09 PM |
My guess is that TMZ, when they broke the story, got their info from someone when it wasn’t clear what happened. They knew perhaps he was in cardiac arrest but didn’t have enough info to clearly state it was a heart attack.
| by Anonymous | reply 282 | July 29, 2021 6:09 PM |
TMZ are fucking vultures. They make me ashamed to be interested in gossip

Has this been linked to the microclotting of the vaccine.

R285 no, Florida deplorable

R Kelly me? Is that a Golden Shower joke?

Just like we don't have shark attacks anymore; we have shark incidents or events. We no longer have heart attacks; we have heart related incidents. It's less triggering.

Or like we don't have insurrectionist Capitol attacks; we have peaceful tourist lovefests. 🙄

It was a trespassing incident.

I wonder if he'll have a hard time getting insured for future projects.

[quote]I’ve never watched a single moment of anything this guy has been in, and yet, I’ve been worried about his condition and constantly checking for updates since it happened, just because I want to have sex with him.
A noble cause.

He was a writer for SNL in 90’s

He wrote “I live in a van down by the river”.

He inspired Teri Hatcher?

Similarly, in weather reports, we don't have snow anymore. We now have "snow events." Rain showers no longer occur in the evening. They occur "during the evening hours."

He was a writer for SNL? definitely lots of smoking and drug use
| by Anonymous | reply 298 | July 30, 2021 12:21 AM |
Didn't he marry a fan who stalked him? I read that on DL. Is that true?
| by Anonymous | reply 299 | July 30, 2021 12:29 AM |
[quote] He wrote “I live in a van down by the river”.
And despite that I am still a fan of his.

When did anyone know “he was in cardiac arrest” or that it was definitely a heart attack? Did I miss something?
| by Anonymous | reply 302 | July 30, 2021 3:18 AM |
I read that same thread r299.
| by Anonymous | reply 303 | July 30, 2021 3:20 AM |
Okay, so they *thought* that *maybe* he had suffered cardiac arrest. They didn’t *know* anything, R304.
| by Anonymous | reply 305 | July 30, 2021 4:02 AM |
R305 reread the original post. The poster (moi) surmised that “perhaps” there was a cardiac arrest event which, we know, could be caused by almost anything. So maybe it was reported as cardiac related. All speculation as the post clearly stated.
| by Anonymous | reply 306 | July 30, 2021 5:53 AM |
According to Bob himself, he had a "small heart attack."

we love you bob please get up
| by Anonymous | reply 308 | July 30, 2021 10:51 PM |
Is a "small heart attack" that causes one to collapse similar to a "mild case of leprosy" that causes one's penis to fall off?
| by Anonymous | reply 309 | July 31, 2021 1:30 AM |
Yeah, r309. I don’t think it was “mild.”
| by Anonymous | reply 310 | July 31, 2021 1:35 AM |
Not every heart attack is massive.
| by Anonymous | reply 311 | July 31, 2021 1:36 AM |
It seems he was given an angioplasty. I would suspect that if it was a massive heart attack they would have done a bypass?
Offsite Link| by Anonymous | reply 313 | July 31, 2021 4:00 AM |
He's tweeting out thanks to family and friends and all concerned. He had a small heart attack - they healed him without surgery. He is gonna be ok.
| by Anonymous | reply 314 | July 31, 2021 4:04 AM |
I love him even more now.
| by Anonymous | reply 316 | July 31, 2021 4:13 AM |
R313 not necessarily. DL doctors, can you chime in? I know someone who had a major heart attack (life threatening) and the doctors used stents. I think it may have to do with the fact that if they can correct with stents or angioplasty they do that because they’re less invasive. But I’m just guessing.
| by Anonymous | reply 317 | July 31, 2021 4:44 AM |
[quote] Not every heart attack is massive.
One of my closest friends had a mild heart attack a few years ago. His doctor described it as the most minor thing he'd ever seen that could be described as a heart attack.
He's on medication for it but did not have stents, angio, bypass or anything like it.
| by Anonymous | reply 318 | July 31, 2021 4:48 AM |
it depends how blocked it is!
| by Anonymous | reply 319 | July 31, 2021 4:48 AM |
Did he get buff for some movie role recently?
| by Anonymous | reply 320 | July 31, 2021 5:24 AM |
I know people who got stents or angioplasty...most of them needed heart bypass years later.
| by Anonymous | reply 321 | July 31, 2021 5:42 AM |
I was really worried for this guy and I have only seen him in about four episodes of Breaking Bad years ago. Idk why I was so invested in his well being, but I glad he is going to be okay!
| by Anonymous | reply 323 | July 31, 2021 5:51 AM |
I presume because some of you are in his age range.
| by Anonymous | reply 324 | July 31, 2021 10:15 AM |
He will be fine. I'm sure.
Hopefully he will be attending Susan Sarandon's funeral soon.
| by Anonymous | reply 325 | July 31, 2021 12:04 PM |
R320 He looks the same to me. Bob's not a gym rat, but he's never been a fat ass either. He's 58 years old. I think he does well for his age.
| by Anonymous | reply 326 | July 31, 2021 12:31 PM |
R323, you should try watching "Better Call Saul." Odenkirk is excellent in it.
| by Anonymous | reply 327 | July 31, 2021 5:37 PM |
He needs to retire, stat.
| by Anonymous | reply 328 | July 31, 2021 5:47 PM |
If you don't know what you're talking about, it's best not to say anything, r326.

So why the heart attack? If he's Jack Lalanne now?
| by Anonymous | reply 330 | July 31, 2021 8:40 PM |
He’s not r330. That move was four years ago.
| by Anonymous | reply 331 | July 31, 2021 8:41 PM |
❤️can attack for all shapes and sizes
| by Anonymous | reply 332 | July 31, 2021 8:54 PM |
But R331 it totally says "it's a sweat habit he won't quit"?!
| by Anonymous | reply 333 | July 31, 2021 8:57 PM |
And the article and "move" are both from this year, not four years ago.
| by Anonymous | reply 334 | July 31, 2021 9:03 PM |
Oops my bad, r334. I thought this movie was from 2019.

No, they said it was a small one.
| by Anonymous | reply 338 | July 31, 2021 10:33 PM |
R327 That is so right!
R323 I too hated Breaking Bad - never understood the hype. I couldn't stomach more than about 3 full episodes and that was mostly because it was on at times while I was at someone else's house who was into it.
But, Better Call Saul is excellent! He's great and he's surrounded by some very eclectic characters played by equally talented actors.
| by Anonymous | reply 339 | August 3, 2021 7:57 AM |
I never watched breaking bad either.
| by Anonymous | reply 340 | August 3, 2021 4:21 PM |
I'm sure Breaking Bad was excellent, but like others, I just couldn't watch it. It was relentlessly depressing.
| by Anonymous | reply 341 | August 3, 2021 4:24 PM |
No redeeming characters except the teen son with cerebral palsy .

Bob Odenkirk Returns to "Better Call Saul" Set After Heart Attack:

Don't worry.
The he'll be nominated for and win Emmy Awards long after he's dead.
He stars in the most boring and shitty shows, but the Academy still awards this guy Emmy's year, after year, after year.
It's so predictable.
| by Anonymous | reply 347 | September 8, 2021 4:54 PM |
Glad he is finally able to go back to set.

Since the thread's been bumped, if anyone missed it, there a nice profile on him in the NYT this week, which covered what happened when he had the heart attack last year.
