Ed Fury (born Rupert Edmund Holovchik; June 6, 1928 – February 24, 2023) was an American bodybuilder, actor, and model. He is best known for starring in a number of "sword-and-sandal" films in the 1950s and 1960s.[1] Fury returned to acting in the early 1970s and appeared mostly in small parts in television series.
Let’s use this thread to post photos of one of the most beautiful men of all time.

He was good (as good can be) in those peplum films but Dan Vadis was bigger, hotter, and better looking.

Good looking and great body. 6' tall, so not short.
His face reminds of me of Ryan Kwanten a little bit.

Grandfather of Tommy Fury.

Did Mr Polish Holovchick talk in his movies?
I'm assuming all his Italian movies were dubbed.

Holovchik is a Polish name.
Fury is a Polish name.

R18, which, I gather, is an Anglicization of Hołowczyc.

It can also be a Ukrainian surname, r18.
| by Anonymous | reply 29 | March 7, 2023 6:04 AM |
Polish: Hołowczyc
Ukrainian: Holovchuk
Croatian, Serbian: Holovčuk

But when they emigrated, names were not necessarily transcribed in their native tongues. My ancestor’s Ukrainian surname was given a Polish transliteration. That was fairly common.

I think he was straight. He's been married for many years. Maybe he was willing to let a guy perform oral sex on him for the right price when he was young. Who knows?

He was in an episode of My Little Margie called "Miss Whosis" - he looked very nice.
The last time I saw him he was on some dumb cable show that had a husband, his wife, and his secretary on to answer questions like The Newlywed Game.
Ed was deaf as a post......couldn't hear a word anyone said.
| by Anonymous | reply 37 | March 7, 2023 5:00 PM |
I thought he was Polish? Either way, Ukrainian or Polish, he was gorgeous. I'm happy to have dated both Polish and Ukrainian men. Lovely people.

Ed Fury was married to the same woman for decades. But he had to suck some cock and get his own cock sucked by guys back in the day to get roles, right? I mean, look at the guy in his prime! He was a homosexual casting director's wet dream!

Some oddities here: Ed Fury claims that he starred in Fanny on Broadway. I looked on IBDB and his name (or Edmund Holovchik) is nowhere to be found on any cast list - opening night cast, replacements or tour.
In addition to making Athletic Model Guild photo sets including nudes, Fury also filmed two shorts that are homoerotic - one is "Day of Fury" and the other is "Because of Him" where he is is cowboy who saves the life of a handsome nude Indian brave. They get quite close. Looking for them online but have been unsuccessful.
Also as for sucking cock - he seems to be a Joshua Logan "discovery". Logan loved bodybuilders and well-built men. Logan directed the Broadway "Fanny" where an unknown Fury/Holovchik had a bit role. Later in Hollywood, Fury had uncredited bit roles in Logan's "Bus Stop" and "South Pacific". A shirtless Fury with dark curly hair can be seen in the Seabee chorus of "There's Nothing Like a Dame" where he is shirtless and stunningly handsome. Also prominently featured in the "South Pacific" cast are Ron Ely, Richard Harrison, Doug McLure and as Stewpot the hunkalicious Ken Clark. Harrison and Clark also ended up doing Italian movies including sword & sandal peplums.
According to reminiscences on blogs, Ed Fury could sing and mentions that he did musicals - no record online of his doing summer stock or touring musicals. Seems like a nice guy.

Yes. She had a great face. Kind of a mix of Barbara Carrera and Bianca Jagger.

What does Persis Khambatta have to do with Ed Fury?
| by Anonymous | reply 65 | March 9, 2023 5:53 AM |
Wow, the Hollywood Reporter article at R57 doesn't hold back. They go with a nude photo, instead of pretending he was a bodybuilder and not a nude model. They mention that he posed for the Athletic Model Guild and Bruce of L.A. physique studios and for covers of Muscles magazine and other publications. I think many people know that the Athletic Model Guild was erotica for gay and bisexual men. Then again it is also mentioned in the wikipedia article about him.

R58, make up your demented mind. Either he was in 'Fanny' or he wasn't.
| by Anonymous | reply 69 | March 9, 2023 6:42 AM |
Yeah, R68. Having sex with him when he was young would have probably been disappointing. Damn heteros.
| by Anonymous | reply 70 | March 9, 2023 7:19 AM |
there used to be a website with the collection of the old "beefcake" magazines (Strength and Health etc), they all had these mail order catalog inserts about the studios and the photos of muscle guys. The interesting thing is some muscle bodybuilders/models themselves published ads too, "send check/money order to PO Box for a set of 4 photos etc". I was surprised to find out some well known muscle models from that era ran ads in those magazines, they were not just posing for photographers, they knew what was going on and they were actively pursuing the business from gay men.
