Emma Watson returned to social media after a brief hiatus, to stop her fans from pondering over rumors about her "engagement" and "dormant career". In February earlier this year, The Daily Mail reported Emma had decided to quit acting, which left millions of her fans confused and devastated. Turns out, there wasn't any truth to it.

The retirement rumors began when the publication reported the LittleWomen actor was choosing to settle down with her partner, American businessman Leo Robinton, who she had been in a relationship with since 2019. Emma has now made it clear, that although her social accounts have been dormant, her career is not. And she is not engaged!

Emma Watson Finally Clarifies

The actor posted publicly for the first time in nine months, to dispel rumors of her engagement and future as an actor. Watson explained how rumors about her personal life and profession have only one intention: to generate "clicks".

"Dear Fans, Rumours about whether I’m engaged or not, or whether my career is "dormant or not" are ways to create clicks each time they are revealed to be true or untrue," Watson shared.

She further added, "If I have news - I promise I'll share it with you."

Watsons tweets have comforted her large fanbase, who were upset to hear she had quit acting.

The feminist icon grew immensely popular for her role as Hermione Granger in HarryPotter, Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Sam in Perks of Being A Wallflower among others. She last appeared in Greta Gerwig's adaptation of Little Women, which earned a 'Best Picture' nomination at the 2020 Oscars.

The actor wanted her fans to know that no news from her meant she was spending the pandemic quietly, as most people were. Fans were relieved to finally hear from Watson, and thanked her for clearing the confusion.
