To say that I wouldn’t be where I am today without her guidance and mentorship is an understatement. Linden was not only a remarkable lady but also a fierce and ferocious force in the dance community, who left an indelible mark on everyone she touched. From the age of 10, Linden took me under her wing and nurtured me into becoming a British Champion. Her dedication and unwavering support continued as I pursued my professional qualifications and,
later in my career, when she examined me on my Fellowships. She was like an encyclopedia of dance knowledge, always sharing her wisdom and passion for the art with her students. Linden’s impact extended far beyond the dance floor. She was kind, compassionate, and a pillar of strength to her family, including Gordon, Jane, John, Steven, and many others. Her love for her students was unwavering,
and she was never one to tolerate self-pity. If she caught any of us crying, she’d give us a loving clip around the ear and tell us to snap out of it. Auntie Linden, as many of us affectionately called her, will be greatly missed but her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched. Rest in Power, dear Linden Bruce. Your influence in the dance world and in our hearts will never fade.
