No one would give a fuck, prudes or not, if Sam was in anyway fuckable or remotely attractive. Put Justin Timberlake in that video and it would be adored.

Sam is the sort of person to walk into a room with a big neon sign saying LOOK AT ME! Then moans when people keep staring. Any 'controversy' is completely manufactured, probably by Sam's PR team.

On one side you have the BAN THIS SICK FILTH people, the same people who complained about Madonna, Frankie, Cristina, Milley, Cardi B, worrying that children will be harmed by seeing it. Most people don't think that for a second but they're committing to their online brand to tweet this shit without even thinking.

On the other side you have people arguing people are only complaining because Sam Smith is gay, non binary, obese and LGBTQIA+ and that a female artist would never be criticised in this way. Janet Jackson's nipple slip might have something to say about that.

The reality is that Sam has an album to promote, he's got a huge amount of media coverage based on the video in which he looks absolutely awful. Controversy for controversy sake.
