The Red Scarf (Japanese: あかいバンダナ Red Bandanna) is a type of held item introduced in Generation III. It increases the holder's Coolness in a Pokémon Contest.

When held by a Pokémon, it raises its Coolness in the primary round of a Pokémon Contest, the Visual Competition of a Super Contest, and the Introduction Round of a Contest Spectacular.

FRLG An item to be held by a Pokémon. It boosts the holding Pokémon's Cool condition in Contests.
ColoXD An item brought over from a faraway place.
DPPt An item to be held by a Pokémon. It boosts the "Cool" aspect of the holder in a Contest.
HGSS An item to be held by a Pokémon. It boosts the "Cool" aspect of the holder in a Contest in Sinnoh.
BWB2W2 An item to be held by a Pokémon. It boosts the Cool aspect of the holder in a Contest.
XY An item to be held by a Pokémon. During a Contest, it raises the Cool aspect of the Pokémon holding it.

Before competing in the Master Rank Contest, Ruby was given all five scarves, which he used to enhance the respective conditions of five of his Pokémon, leading all of them to win the Contest and fulfilling Ruby's part of the 80-day challenge with Sapphire. He used the Red Scarf to enhance Nana's Coolness.
