On the evening of that fateful day, Shelley was doing what she loved most—jogging near 750 E. 1400 North in Logan. Tragically, her life was cut short when she was struck by a pickup truck just after 5:30 p.m. The accident occurred as she attempted to cross the road, near 750 E., having already made it to the median. The collision occurred with an eastbound pickup truck driven by a motorist who was passing a semi-truck in the left lane.
Despite the driver’s efforts to avoid the accident, Shelley reportedly walked into the path of the truck, resulting in the tragic collision. The driver of the pickup, who remained on the scene and cooperated fully with investigators, expressed that he had not seen Shelley until the moment of impact. The accident left Shelley with critical injuries, and despite the best efforts of first responders and medical professionals, she was later pronounced dead at Logan Regional Hospital.
