Radar just confirmed it with the firm

Radar is saying it happened after the Queen's death, so in the last week. Seems like strange timing. What could have happened? Did SS finally tell them "No" on something and activate a Narc Rage response?

R3 What an odd caption. Is OK magazine trying to imply that the PR firm was the reason Harry and Meghan left royal life in the first place? That's some crazy spin right there. Completely absurd.

I wonder if Harry is negotiating a return back for himself and the kids (Meghan too if she doesn't want a divorce) and dumping the PR was one of the first steps of the deal. I'm really, really curious if the children have been quietly brought to London.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Queen's death inadvertently gets them to return to the fold with everyone being forced to act pleasant.
With Charles in Charge I could see him deciding to let them have their way a bit: return to reduced Royal Duties, don't publish the book and make nice.
| by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 17, 2022 4:03 AM |
I think SS refused to leak what Meghan has been leaking- eg "they're absolutely baffled at being "disinvited" to the funeral reception", probably a lie that they were ever invited - and won't play this game and so they parted ways.
| by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 17, 2022 4:05 AM |
I'm no expert in the PR industry. When all those "pegging" stories were planted a few weeks ago while the Queen was dying, was that the PR firm, or Meg acting on her own?
| by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 17, 2022 4:06 AM |
It's bizarre to me that they dropped them during the Queen's mourning period, when all eyes are on them.
I suspect SS dropped THEM. They'd be insane to drop SS during all these appearances. She'd need SS to help her get clothes to choose from, styling, and to organise last minute makeup, hair.....botox.
They were fired by SS. Not the other way around. The timing makes no sense the other way around.
| by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 17, 2022 4:10 AM |
I think you’re on to something r16 and r18 this whole thing ab disinviting to the party; the leak ab Harry’s uniform and then those awful Getty photos of a ghoul-like Meghan getting into the shot (and looking dead into the camera) behind KC as he waited for his mother’s coffin at BP. They were the ONLY ones photographed by that photographer. I wonder if the tactics have been so outrageously insensitive that even a slimy liar like Ken Sunshine said enough’s enough. I also suspect they disobeyed their PR one too many times.
| by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 17, 2022 4:22 AM |
My guess would be that either H&M dropped SS because are broke and can't pay anymore, or that they are making SS look so bad right now that SS dumped them.

We had reports a little while back saying that SS was only working for Meghan and not for Harry. I think that was the beginning of the end of SS. There isn’t anything in it for SS if they do not represent Harry. He's the Prince. She's just the wife.

PR can in the end do only so much if the "talent" they represent do not cooperate or if they are not actually talented.

1) I'm guessing H&M were dropped by SS. Since the Queen's death, it seems people are rapidly distancing themselves from them. I think the Queen's death is the tipping point in terms of their final fall from relevancy. Public sympathy, even in the US is with the royals.
2) I don't think H&M were actually invited to the reception on Sunday. I think they got wind of it and are trying to push their way via Scobie Doo the same way they did when the Queen was dying and Meghan tried to get to Balmoral with Harry.
| by Anonymous | reply 39 | September 17, 2022 6:21 AM |
I've never understood those high p.r. firms.
I worked at a popular entertainment magazine in the 1990s and anytime I had a request, a high powered firm like S&S would ask me to fax my request over; hardly ever got a yes.
One time, an assistant called the magazine and asked for some copies.
I asked them to put the request in writing and fax it over.
| by Anonymous | reply 40 | September 17, 2022 6:32 AM |
R38 I don't think the half in & half out thing will ever be agreed to. Back when Megxit first happened, both Charles and William agreed 100% with the late Queen that you were either in our out, but no in between. Also, if there were any chance of H&M coming back into the fold, why would Charles make reference to them building their lives overseas in his first broadcast?
I think either SS dropped them, or SS advised H&M that would be best for the Sussex brand if they made nice with the royals and Megz said no.
| by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 17, 2022 6:34 AM |
Ss dropped them because they don’t want to fight with the rich and powerful BRF. I think Charles has decided to fight back with his own PR and SS isn’t willing to fight without a lot more money and or a more malleable client. They probably hate Meghan with a passion and are happy to be rid of her.

I cannot imagine anyone in the Royal family or the British public excusing/turning a blind eye to/ignoring Megs and Harry’s very public and very vicious years-long anti-BRF campaign cum blackmail. All the lies told, all the bile spewed, e.g., “The BRF is using Prince Philip’s death to stifle me/us”, and now everyone is just suppose to shrug and say “Whelp, shit happens?” Or, given that Megs and Harry are a couple of sociopaths, accept yet more excuses/lies/deflecting blame elsewhere, such as “Well, it wasn’t us, we were mis-advised by our PR people”.
Megs was the Sunshine Sachs client, not Harry. I’m betting that Sunshine Sachs could no longer run effective interference, publish enough positive PR about Megs/Harry to counteract the world-wide deluge of negative PR, so Megs sacked them for incompetence, not doing the job they were being paid for.
Megs has never wanted to live anywhere but Southern California/Los Angeles. Her goal was to return triumphant, acclaimed, feted and most of all the only star in the galaxy, all attention and focus on her. Nothing else matters to Megs. Not Harry, and certainly not her kids, except as tools for her enrichment. Harry remains the tantruming little boy pursuing a vendetta against his father and brother. So no, returning to Britain/the BRF under any capacity is most certainly not on the cards for this gruesome twosome.
| by Anonymous | reply 44 | September 17, 2022 7:14 AM |
I wondered about that too, R28. That interview was a fucking disaster, when I read it I knew that either her PR hadn't looked it over or they had and she rejected their advice. You don't even have to be a professional to understand that the comparison to Nelson Mandela was going to go down like a lead balloon.
| by Anonymous | reply 45 | September 17, 2022 7:15 AM |
It will be interesting to see how/if their PR changes now. Will they get better advice, or were they were ignoring their firm all along and all the bad moves they made were their own ideas, which they will continue?

This sounds about right, R44. She appears pathologically unable to admit even the tiniest fault or mistake, and it's exactly this type who a)ignore good advice and then b)fire/scapegoat the advice-givers.
| by Anonymous | reply 48 | September 17, 2022 7:23 AM |
R43 is correct. S&S won’t move against King Charles and the Palace if Charles has elected to invoke a less restrained strategy against Meghan’s claims. The sunk cost fallacy applied not only to Markle but also S&S in this scenario and it looks like S&S are finally cutting their reputational losses.
| by Anonymous | reply 49 | September 17, 2022 7:33 AM |
I can only imagine how happy Sunshine Sachs is to be rid of them - especially her. They seem like absolute nightmare clients.
Having said that, how is SS going to regain their previous reputation within the PR world? They've looked like the most incompetent fools in the entire PR world for over two years now - just one bone-headed, thudding error after another, after another, after another.
If I had the money and the need of PR services, their performance with the Harkles would shunt them directly to the bottom of my list, and I can't be the only person who now looks at them that way.
| by Anonymous | reply 50 | September 17, 2022 7:50 AM |

There is absolutely no way that this pair of clowns would be welcomed back into the family as working royals. I don’t believe that William will ever forgive Meghan for the Oprah interview. Meghan trashed his wife and branded them as racists, that will never be forgotten. I bet that all of the family are counting the days until they fuck off back to their shallow and tacky life overseas.
| by Anonymous | reply 53 | September 17, 2022 8:51 AM |
There really is absolutely no way back for them.
The family cannot even trust, when they spend any time with them, that there will not be leaks/lies told to the press by the Harkles about said meeting.
That alone means there is absolutely no way back.

Who fired the other doesn't matter at this point. H and M have been doing well on this visit, and for this to come out now? If the Sachs people really insisted to have an announcement made at such a touchy time, that is ugly, and not the sort of PR firm I would ever want to be a part of. They have many other clients (though you wouldn't know from here.)
I truly suspect pissy palace "insiders" and classic, though tedious, palace intrigue for churning foment in order to keep them literally warm at night. Don't forget, those who keep those palace jobs sit pretty. Those who were sacked at such a ruthless time, among much of Britain is facing an, almost inconceivably expensive winter for both heating and food. I find these invitations/unvitations/possible reinvitations very "LOOK OVER AT THOSE TRAITORS! (eyeroll) and gives them totally unrelated effigies to bat at in their anger.
Distraction. best friend to magicians, politicians, and royalty.
And that's just for starters...
| by Anonymous | reply 57 | September 17, 2022 9:30 AM |
There is absolutely no way the BRF is trying to get more attention on the Markles. H&M called them racists. That would be like Andrew telling everyone to look at the Virginia so they'd be reminded how horrible she was for accusing him of rape. Granted, Andrew just might be stupid enough to do that but the palace PR isn't and their dream scenario is for the Markles to shut up and disappear.
| by Anonymous | reply 58 | September 17, 2022 9:40 AM |

What has yet to be revealed is just what a royal (pun intended) pain in the ass Harry has been from the get-go, how the Queen and the media have colluded in presenting and preserving the "Harry myth", and how Harry continues to be a never-ending detriment to the Crown. One can only hope that someone will take the time to investigate/write an expose, much like DL fave Lady Colin Campbell's books about Harry's mum.

R59 clearly can’t read or is very flexible to be able to be confused by so straight forward a comment.
What I find strange is how some of the public seems more interested in this feud continuing than the involved parties; I’ve always thought the issue wasn’t the BRF themselves but the grey suits that have fomented this drama and the press picked up on it because it’s a money maker.
The public has been played.

So much is manufactured or dramatized on BOTH sides, as is tradition in the BRF. So much time is spent cunting on that person or persons you don't like, or jealous of. After watching all her hijinx, my best bet is this is the result of a tantrum and she leaked it to get them back (for criticizing her or not being willing to do what she asked in the last week, whatever ghastly thing that might have been.)
"Well, I'll show them - and I'll leak it, so ha ha ha!! I got you!"
I think Sunshine Sachs is a classy enough company to not choose this time of mourning before the Queen's funeral to drop a "bombshell" about these two idiots - as others have said upthread, what would that do for SS reputation? Sheesh.
But it sounds exactly like something this childish idiot would do. Well, both of these childish idiots. For a long time, I tried to believe it was mostly her fault - well, the worst of the evil-doings, because he was smitten and love-bombed, etc., but the more I hear about what a mess he's been and the BRF have scrambled to cover up for him -- anyway, I should have believed my own eyes with the pix of him dressed up in Hitler's deathsquad uniform or whatever it was. Pot and kettle got together. (I still don't think they'll stay together though, but really, who cares?)

You have the King throwing fits on camera over fucking pens for crying out loud, when his subjects are insecure at best where their next meal is going to come from, or how to heat their house. I see. You're saying at the height of goodwill for the BRF, during this national mourning for TQs death, the palace thinks they need to scapegoat H&M, once again reminding the world of the family rifts, accusations, and comparisons to Andrew.
And that there's no one else during this height of goodwill for the BRF who could possibly want to remind the public that the BRF is fighting with their biracial daughter-in-law and have a rapist in the family? That it's the BRF who wants this, because right now they could really use some public support beyond a 24 hr long queue and the praise and visits from international leaders.
Makes total sense.

Never mind what's just happened - the Queen dying and Charles struggling to get through week 1 and all the ridiculous amount of duties amidst his grief.... no no no - we've got to talk about MY uniform and MY kids' titles. I don’t agree with people saying the Palace and the Royal Family wants the Sussexes to disappear.
Charles presents himself as a loving father and unifying King by allowing Harry to wear his uniform at the Vigil, by asking them to greet the crowds at Windsor, by having William interact with Meghan in front of the flowers.
It’s less about punishing the Sussexes, which is what the tabloids what you want to believe, but about shoring up Charles (and William and George) as the kind of leader of his smaller, modernised, Scanda-style Royal family who will flourish for years.

[quote]Tacky for this "SS" I've been so sick of hearing about making the announcement NOW, but they seem to have done these two more harm than good, so why stop now I guess?
Sunshine Sachs is terrible. They're just an awful PR firm all around.
We don't know when SSachs was dropped by Harry and Meghan. It's possible that it happened before the Queen died, especially in the wake of that recent interview. What PR firm lets their celebrity client walk into something like that? A LOT of celebrities are weird and nutty and need people to manage their image publicly, yet SSachs couldn't do it.
They were so bad at their job that I can see them having asked for really inappropriate publicity stunts and the Sussexes deciding enough was enough, especially since -- despite what a lot of people on here have been claiming -- they seem to be trying their best to behave and get along and work within the rules.
I know this is the least popular opinion on these threads, but I don't think Harry and Meghan are particularly smart, but I also don't think either one of them are malicious or evil, either. Clueless and inexperienced sometimes. Meghan is a walking bundle of anxiety and she has trouble navigating social situations. I can see them agreeing to what a high-powered firm with no experience working with royalty suggests, without thinking it through.
| by Anonymous | reply 81 | September 17, 2022 11:20 AM |
I don't think they are evil either. But their narcissism makes them toxic. And Meghan knows the PR game. She was raised in Hollywood by a father who was in the business. And Harry knows the BRF neither one are ingenues. They have an agenda.
| by Anonymous | reply 82 | September 17, 2022 11:26 AM |
There’s a very simple explanation: Harry and Meghan weren’t paying their bills! They were dropped because they have no money.

So freakin’ what?
Contracts expire.
SS cost top dollar.
Perhaps they can no longer afford them.
These firms charge millions per year. Why pay them, if you are no longer contractually able to do so, and you’re considering alternatives?
Also, what if they’re not happy with results?
One does have the option to reevaluate and either continue a business relationship, or move on.
| by Anonymous | reply 84 | September 17, 2022 11:36 AM |
Again, not a popular opinion on here, but no, I don't think Meghan knows the PR game, because if she did, she wouldn't suck so bad at it.
Being exposed to PR and having your own PR agency when you're a D-list celebrity doesn't mean you have any aptitude at all for PR at the level of the BRF.
Don't tell me Meghan is an expert at PR when she walked right into that disaster of an interview with The Cut.
| by Anonymous | reply 85 | September 17, 2022 11:37 AM |

| by Anonymous | reply 86 | September 17, 2022 11:39 AM |
Harry and Meghan don’t have money because you say so…is that what you’re saying, R83?
If the parting of ways is true, there’s a reason and it likely doesn’t have to do with money. No matter how much you wish it to be so, the Sussex great-grandchildren will never hurt for money.
The only ones worried about keeping the money train going is the press. The harm it causes to real people is irrelevant when they can make bags of money from clicks with bare-bones reporting.
Again, the public is being played. Good PR will clean up every and any mess. If Charles III decides the Sussexes will be brought back into the fold, it will happen and the media will relent and spin a different tale and latch onto some other whipping boy/girl.
Remember the PR/image makeover done for Camilla: she’s accepted now and few would dare speak against her with the Palace machine firmly behind her. They don’t care if you like/love or cape for them online: we don’t matter to the BRF as long as too much shine isn’t taken off them and the media makes enough to leave the nastier stuff hidden.

I think it's a Yiddish (Jewish) surname, R95. It just so happens that the Yiddish for 'sunshine' sounds similar to the English word, hence why it was easily anglicized into this unusual last name.

R96 It's German in origin, a loan word to Yiddish. There are a variety of spellings, depending on the language used; Sonnenschein, Zonenszein. The Yiddish זונשיין (Zunshayn) is a transliteration of the German. Sunshine is the translation of Sonnenschein into English.

| by Anonymous | reply 107 | September 17, 2022 2:08 PM |
R106 Because it was never dead. Rabbinic responsa were written in Hebrew. Books about Jewish law and custom were written in Hebrew. Jews spoke Hebrew as a common language throughout the Jewish world. Hebrew remained the language of study of Jewish law and commentaries. What was eventually lost was a familiarity of language nuance due to the adoption of many loan words from other languages. Which led to monumental mistranslation and misunderstandings of the Jewish Bible. But that's another story for another time.

I'm sure SS dumped them. The extraordinary outpouring of grief for the Queen and the Royal family, all the praise being lavished on the Queen by heads of state the world over, all the saturation news coverage of the event must have been shocking to SS. SS had looked back on the extravaganza of Diana's death and figured Harry and the Wife would have inherited all that goodwill and must have been shocked by this reaction. No doubt Meghan was stirring it up trying to score some publicity hits and SS decided they'd backed the wrong horse. In particular, a woman who hugged and lavished praise on Meghan at her Windsor walkabout turned out to be a Harkle staffer who had pulled the same stunt in Dusseldorf trying to make it look like Meghan was beloved. Embarrassing.
Be interesting to see if Meghan's fanclub Sussex Squad on Twitter disappears. A majority of it appeared to be run as a troll farm by her publicists, trying constantly to get Meghan trending on Twitter. Meghan was supposed to get some honor from Variety as a Powerful Woman. They included her along with Malala, Hillary Clinton, Oprah. Which seemed ridiculous as Meghan's only power is as a golddigger, not a notably "feminist" profession.

R53 said " I bet that all of the family are counting the days until they fuck off back to their shallow and tacky life overseas." May I add "shallow, tacky, and purposeless life overeseas." The problem with the Sussexes is that they have no purpose. Harry needed a strategy to get out of Dodge and Meghan needed a way to advance her pursuit of fame. Other than that, their lives have no purpose.

It the book deal suddenly gets dropped then you know Charles probably paid the publisher a tidy sum to get Harry out of it or at least tone it down. These people are all shady, all of them.
I said when the Queen first passed that this would be the way for Harry to get back in if he wanted. Helping his father, sense of duty, honoring his beloved grandmother etc... I wouldn’t be surprised. Charles is a pushover. I will never forget reading that he refused to discipline Harry after he wore the Nazi uniform, despite calls for at least sensitivity training. Charles always got the side eye from after that. The man didn’t even care about optics.

I find it so interesting that palace intrigue is alive and well here in the 21st century. Even H G Tudor has a video up about it, reaching no conclusion, but talking about how common it is to plant friendlies in the audience.

It wasn't in the Daily Mail but some other tabloid. They had a pic of Meghan with the blondish woman hugging in Dusseldorf and the same woman in Windsor slobbering all over Meghan. Definitely the same woman who was accompanied by the teenage girl who hugged Meghan. So either she's hired by Meghan or she is some stalker. Which I doubt.
There was a young boy at Windsor Meghan went over to shake his hand and he grabbed her and hugged her. He was obviously mentally handicapped. Meghan recoiled in horror at him grabbing her. The kid was maybe 10-11. Kate made a point afterwards at going over to the kid and hugging him and talking to him and his parents. Meghan doesn't want no retards touching her.
| by Anonymous | reply 146 | September 17, 2022 7:26 PM |
FWIW, the body language guy did an analysis of the planted fan and hugger of Meghan on the walkabout. He suggested Meg had a microphone in her ear directing her to the planted "fans". The ear mic would explain why she had her hair swept to the side and kept adjusting it to stay to the side. He said the plant's video of the incident was too well done to be spontaneous, it required preparation.

From reading the article, I got the impression that Meghan didn't have a minder from SS hanging around to "faclitate" the interview. I've read celebrity interviews where the interviewer makes it clear that there's a PR person in the room who makes sure conditions are adhered to (e.g. no questions about x, y, or z) and to keep the client on a leash, so to speak.
Is it or isn't it odd that she didn't have a minder present? Especially her since she's prone to egregious declarations and lying. (Not that anyone could have corralled her special brand of crazy.) Maybe her account manager thought it would be a waste of time and resources. In a scenario like this, I can see her throwing a fit because SS "failed to protect me!"
Another question. Along the lines of "Don't quit your job until you have something else lined up. " shouldn't they have announced their new PR provider? Assuming they have one.

How would the Meghan Stan (who is the teenager who hugged her), know that Meghan would be at the walk about with William, Kate and Harry, if the walk about was only to be an event attended by William and Kate?
According to all press, inviting Harry & Meghan was a last minute thing, so how would a 14 yo girl know this?

r158, Meghan and Haz were planning their own walkabout so the paid adoring fan(s) had already been scheduled and in the vicinity. Assistant here for a very well known elder musician. ALL of these "walkabouts" and meet and greets are planned down to the moment. They have the kid/chick/fan picked out FAR in advance to make sure they aren't crazies (there really are many). The chit-chat, the let's have a "special moment". etc. It can come off sweet, but after watching the...not so magic...happen after two decades it really is sort of sad. Then again, these "names" could also be stabbed, shot, whacked, etc.so easily, so you do have to have security ramped up to 11.

I think Meghan fired them in a fit of pique after seeing the turn out for TQ, pissed because they'd promised she'd make billions in America, everyone would love them, they'd have adoring crowds, attend glamorous awards shows, and be the most sought after guests in Hollywood. Instead the BRF is more popular than ever, they're jokes, they get booed, the have no crowds, Harry spoke to an empty UN room, and they have to pay to appear on covers. Nothing worked out as planned. It's leaking now that SS divorced Meghan, not the opposite. She hadn't paid her bills, pleading poverty till she could get Spotify to cough up some money and Spotify was refusing to give her anymore until she produced podcasts. She got paid something by Spotify, used it to pay off SS and SS said ciao, we've had enough of you.

"Why would they fire them in the middle of all this madness?"
We don't know exactly when it came to a parting of the ways, maybe it was before all the current drama started and there was just no announcement.
But I am willing to believe that Meg fired SS.... because how can she possibly have believed that she was getting her money's worth? Her plans to monetize her fame were all failures, everything she said in interviews was picked apart and mocked, she was totally failing to meet her PR goals. Why pay money for that, even if most of the failures were due to her listening to advice?
| by Anonymous | reply 174 | September 18, 2022 2:57 AM |
How could someone as heinous as Weinstein be considered a better client for a PR firm than MM and Dimwit? Easily if he paid his bills on time, didn't throw tantrums/question everything he was advised, and finally got on with doing as he was fucking told.
Jolie is reputed to manage her own PR, MM probably thought she could do likewise.
SS should have ditched them after Oprah's interview was revealed as a pack of lies but particularly after Dimwit criticised the US first amendment. The latter deeply offended me and I'm not even American.
Even at the One World Summit, when MM gave her speech, she mentioned criticism. It seemed to come out of nowhere.

So, Meghan must have a new PR team. A post about the "hate campaign" against her randomly hit the front page of reddit, posted by one of those accounts with high karma that gets paid to influence, a man who normally posts about football and video games and Lord of the rings, which doesn't seem like the demographic interested in the BRF. 🙄
TQ's dead, but let's make sure everyone feels pity for Meghan Markle and knows that any criticism against her is obviously false and crazy.

Yes, this Twitter account that refers to them has Harkles is really trustworthy. The fan fiction is really ridiculous. First they crashed the walkabout, then they had plants in the crowd in two countries, Meghan had an ear piece, and now they didn’t pay their bills. Yet, page six and the DM haven’t reported these ‘rumors’ but some anti-Meghan Twitter account is in the know. Come on people, make it make sense at least.

Is all of that stuff really unbelievable given Markel's usual swamping of vegetables, er, the RF with her "delightful " presence upon her lying as an absolute necessity.
She wilfully made herself more important than the family of the dead Monarch by imposing herself in a photo of the Queen coming home to Buckingham behind a blurry Charles. Only Charles, no other family members who squirreled themselves there for the all important "receiving" photo that gained the some all important who were there. Just the Sussex squirrel idiots to mark themselves as terrible and horrific people who demand the love, admiration and attention his former, albeit totally Borderline mother who left the with a horrific family history of good genetics.

Why would he leave Britain because of his mother? No Britons were in any way involved in her death, and anyway she'd still be alive if she had chosen to wear a seatbelt.
He left Britain because he wanted to make money off his titles, and no one in Britain was ever going to help him to do that.

The press, tabloids specially were ruthlessness with Sarah (even calling her pork for being chubby) and with the" beloved Di". The level of arrangement was abysmal. Without internet, seems less invasive, but it wasn't, no one had more people following them in the world, waiting for them to fuck up.
They were like that with Kate at the beginning, but she is so vanilla boring, is less attractive for tabloids.
So when H&M said they wanted out, It made sense. Why tolerate all that shit if you're not going to be king? Specially because she's American and mixed race.
But then they showed their true colours, wanting all the perks without the responsibility, looking for the spotlight, not avoiding it, a princess Kardashian.

Leaving before the "spectacle" wedding that cost the UK a bomb, going to the USA as rebel royals and actually doing something like buying a trendy organic farm and generally being do gooders, would have been great for them. The revenge tour really fucked them up.

[quote]They were like that with Kate at the beginning, but she is so vanilla boring, is less attractive for tabloids.
They were like that with Kate for a LONG time. Not just the skirts blowing up but "her mother is a chav, her uncle offered us some prostitutes, Waity Katie tricked Wills into marrying her by wearing lingerie in public" and even articles that she was lazy when she was actually sick during her pregnancies.
When I would point out that the tabloid treatment of Meghan was similar to what they did to Kate, all the Meghan haters would scream that the tabs never did anything to Kate because she was perfect, and what they were doing to Meghan was deserved because she's evil incarnate.

[quote]She wilfully made herself more important than the family of the dead Monarch by imposing herself in a photo of the Queen coming home to Buckingham behind a blurry Charles.
There is no way she could have made sure she was in a spot where someone with a telephoto lens would get her in the image. You're just mad because that's evidence that the family rift isn't as bad as you hoped. You want the family to destroy their own son/brother because you don't like him and his wife, but you don't matter. The family appears to have other plans.

[quote] Why would they fire them in the middle of all this madness? It makes no sense. I think they are going to rebrand.
Well, their PR certainly has improved, so maybe it is a re-brand (or a deal for a big cash influx from Pa). There's Harry's recent statement about being fine with not wearing a uniform, and this "friend of the couple" quote in the Times: "They are very sensitive to how everything is happening and very much see the bigger picture, not just from a personal point of view but from the family’s point of view. Meghan is not afraid of throwing in a hand grenade here and there, but there are no toys being thrown out of the pram now. Their view is ‘Lets get on and do it — we’ll be where we need to be and we won’t be where we don’t need to be."
That quote is pitch perfect in acknowledging their past vitriol, while portraying them as reasonable grown-ups now and no longer bitter whingers.

[Quote]So, Meghan must have a new PR team. A post about the "hate campaign" against her randomly hit the front page of reddit, posted by one of those accounts with high karma that gets paid to influence, a man who normally posts about football and video games and Lord of the rings, which doesn't seem like the demographic interested in the BRF. 🙄
It's several hours later and now there's another Meghan hate post trending on the front page of Reddit. Which is amazing because I've never once seen a Markle post on the front page, in fact I've never seen a single post about celebrity hate like this on reddit (even though there's plenty of stan wars), but now that she isn't using SS and suddenly there's two new posts in one night. Reminding people, informing people, that there's a hate campaign against Meghan with both posts highlighting the same tweet. She definitely has a new PR team and they're definitely working hard to fix her image with the general public and earn her sympathy points.

If they are serious about improving their image, then they need to get Scobie out of the picture like yesterday. Sunshine Sachs was no good at handling PR that involved the British royals, they just didn't have the right experience for it, and Scobie is just some influencer who is cosplaying as a biographer. All Scobie does is make things worse. I believe Scobie even got multiple quotes wrong in the book and even Meghan had to issue some corrections. I thought that would be the end of Scobie, but sadly, no.
Harry has never been good at handling palace machinations, he just doesn't have the disposition for it (which is partly why he dislikes the life so much) and Meghan isn't very good at PR, as I've said before. If the family is serious about calming all this shit down, they'll suggest a good, sympathetic, British PR firm to the couple.
| by Anonymous | reply 196 | September 18, 2022 8:07 AM |

"Does anyone think that maybe Harry left England and his daily contact with his family behind because of what happened to his mother?"
Multiple factors drove him out of Britain and away from his family, starting with the fact that he hated being a "Spare". And his relationship with his father was difficult at best, even before the remarriage, and I wonder if he was ever as close to William as was believed. But seriously, I think the root of his troubles is that his mother died before he was old enough to understand anything about her, I doubt he understands how complex her personality and her relationships were, and he still believes everything she ever said about Charles being mean to her.
And BTW, I can't fault him for quitting his job as a "spare", few people thrive in the role, many waste their lives, so he had every right to his feelings about the job and every right to leave. He just doesn't have any right to be supported in luxury now that he's out.

[quote]He just doesn't have any right to be supported in luxury now that he's out.
It's not about rights and it's not your call. If his family wants to support him, they can.
If you don't like what the royal family spends their money on, ostensibly because it's "taxpayer money," then I'd fully expect you to say that you don't like the royal family supporting Andrew, especially back when he was palling around with Epstein, or any of Charles' sketchy money-generating schemes. It's odd, though, because we rarely have anyone on here mention those things.

No one talks about Andrew because there's no controversy, everyone hates him. No one wants their taxes to go towards supporting his sleazy ass. Maybe now Charles is in charge things will change. Either way, Andrew being a creepy bastard doesn't mean Harry isn't a gigantic, overgrown baby weeping about his shoulder patches whilst the nation mourns his grandmother.

As an eldergay who lived in the UK when Princess Di reigned supreme, the tabloids loved her, she was on the phone to Richard Kay of the Daily Mail every day. The Telegraph aka Torygraph didn't like her but that's not a tabloid. The paps harassed her but she made a point of encouraging the paps most of the time. She'd even advise them when she was going to do something to ensure she was on the cover of the tabloids.
Her big mistake was luring all the French and Italian paps to France for her vacation with Dodi. She was desperate to get attention away from Charles and Camilla and to make Dr. Khan jealous. However, she would never have died if she hadn't got into a car driven by a drunk Frenchman and refused to put on her seatbelt as the bodyguard Al Fayed had hired, asked her to. The bodyguard sitting in the front "suicide seat" survived.

211, and others: I'm intrigued by the relationship between Richard Kay and Di. He's still very handsome and I remember reading back in the day that she would dress down (wear jeans, sweater and baseball cap) and sneak away to sit with him in parked cars to brief him and chat (they may have been snapped doing this). She was also constantly calling him (they spoke on the phone the day she died)
Did she have that kind of relationship with other reporters, does anyone know?

She also smuggled him into Kensington Palace. He was her Omid Scobie. And I've always wondered if they had an affair. He was devoted to her. He has certainly remained discreet if they did. Daily Mail was Princess Diana News back in the day - and always spun positively for her. Di made the tapes for Andrew Morton but she didn't actually know him. Had she given the same into to Richard Kay, everybody would have known it was coming directly from Di.

There was a complaint from Dumbo that the DM wrote a nasty article about his legal actions regarding security/IPP status. He blamed the article for all the vicious DM reader comments responding to it. Claimed the article and unfavourable comments were causing damage to his reputation.
I wonder if he knows Richard Kay was regularly leaked info from Di and how he reconciles it with his war on the UK press and distaste for freedom of speech/the press in general?

R238 he was a trashy gossip columnist for Heat, the Brit equivalent of Star. She's a trashy starlet.
Dr. Khan who remained very tight-lipped about his affair with Diana for 20 years, finally admitted she used to smuggle him into Kensington Palace under a rug. He also said he remains on friendly terms with William. He didn't mention Harry. William obviously knew of his existence at the time as Diana inappropriately discussed her love life with William. Dr. Khan had an arranged marriage with a Pakistani woman after Di's death but the marriage ended fairly quickly.

I'm sure Kate's heard that 5,000 times a day for the last 20-odd years, "Don't be a celebrity like Diana, be a PRINCESS!".
Meghan was undoubtedly told that as well, but she wasn't having it. She wanted more than anything on Earth to be a celebrity princess like Diana, and had no clue that the Firm wasn't going to let that happen again. And she never understood why nobody was helping her achieve the goals she'd set for her life as a royal.
| by Anonymous | reply 243 | September 21, 2022 12:34 AM |
We tend to forget Meghan only stuck it out for 18 months and did little in the way of the job she was allegedly 'hired' for. Is she going to build her lifelong career on 18 months in the royal family and the fact when she quit her job, she didn't get to keep the company car?

She's certainly gonna try, R244.
| by Anonymous | reply 245 | September 21, 2022 1:02 AM |
I very much doubt Kate needed to be told. She has a certain shyness and reticence that would prevent her from trying to be a celebrity. She was perfectly happy to lead the life of an anonymous housewife in Wales when William was working air ambulance. Apparently, she was bullied at her first secondary school, seriously enough for her parents to move her to another college. This is not the sort of character who seeks attention. In other words, William didn't marry his mother like his brother did.
As I was typing, it struck me that Kate's pattern of being bullied may have repeated itself in that notorious bridesmaids' fitting. Bullies smell targets. I'm inclined to think Kate cried, not Meghan. Kate's sensitivity to the staff being bullied may have hastened the process of splitting their offices. Kate's willing to take a lot for the team, but turning an eye or minimizing the situation wasn't going to happen. She got William's BDE moving.
| by Anonymous | reply 246 | September 21, 2022 1:05 AM |
R246 - I also think Kate being completely freezing cold to Meghan means that Meghan likely did lie about who made whom cry over the bridesmaid thing. I think that would be enough for her not bother acknowledging Meghan’s existence even when right next to each other. Meghan was the bully and then tried to get the Oprah audience to sympathize with her by lying and saying it was Kate in the wrong.
| by Anonymous | reply 248 | September 21, 2022 1:13 AM |
Kate came from an upwardly mobile middle-class family. Snobbism in England is still off the charts. Her parents sent her to Marlborough College which is definitely elitist if not as horribly snobbish as Benenden, Roedean or Cheltenham. She probably suffered as much bullying for being middle class as Meghan did for being half-black at her Catholic school.

If there's one thing about British culture that mystifies me is what r250 describes. It's so strange that people improving their living circumstances is looked on with suspicion or outright frowned upon. I've read stories of working class parents questioning their children's desire to seek higher education, saying something to the effect of "wasn't the kind of life we gave you good enough? One story I read that was both funny and sad was about a woman who had children enrolled in a private school. She never spoke to the other parents and was considered a snob or very upper class. It came out (don't remember how) that she had a working class accent. She was university educated and spoke perfectly grammatical Engish and had middle/upper middle class life but was embarrassed her accent and no doubt getting judged. The story may be apocryphal, but if true, wow.
