Knock off removes the item and/or prevents its use, afaik poltergeist lets them keep it. Its more item dependant in that it fails if they don't have an item, whereas knock off happens anyway Pallukun (talk) 16:24, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

Mold Breaker

I haven't actually been able to test this interaction, but I did go through and check; no Pokemon that can learn Poltergeist (or Metronome, which I believe has the potential to call it) can have the ability Mold Breaker. I can't find any way to practically check this in-game without datamining/hacking. (I think the only situation in which this interaction could arise in normal gameplay is if a Pokemon knowing Poltergeist or Metronome has its ability switched with a Mold Breaker Pokemon, if someone can figure out how to set that up.)

Hi, My name's Raiden, I'm not the guy up here but I got a result, I just tested this on pokémon showdown on Almost Any Ability, I got a klutz garchomp to use endure so nothing happens and a mold breaker froslass to use poltergeist, it resulted on the move actually working on garchomp.- unsigned comment from Raiden22 (talk • contribs)

Tested this in a double battle with a Mold Breaker Pancham and Skill Swap & Poltergeist Gengar, against a Klutz Woobat. Klutz did not prevent Poltergeist from working at all, with or without Mold Breaker. Exempt-Medic (talk) 22:51, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
