Following her separation from husband Simon Konecki, Adele was understandably upset. Though the split was amicable, according to The New York Times, the singer then went through an emotional rollercoaster. "I just didn't like who I was," Adele revealed to Rolling Stone about what motivated the split.

But she vowed to look again for love and jumped into the dating scene. Adele was a little rusty because she and Konecki had been together since 2011. Plus, it was complicated for the superstar to find the right person. "I lasted five seconds," she said about dating in Los Angeles. According to the singer, the city didn't work for her because "everyone is someone or everyone wants to be someone." She added, "I've been so lucky that no one I've been with has ever sold a story on me. I feel like that could really be a possibility."

After her attempt at dating, Adele penned the track "Can I Get It," which is about looking for real love in a sea of so many others looking for casual hookups. The lyrics imagine Adele talking to her ideal love, who she wants to go "Through it all, the good, the bad, the ugly, and divine / I will be the melody, the rhythm, and your rhyme / All I want is for you to be mine, mine," per Genius. Adele is a woman who knows what she wants!
