There, I said it.

Someone else should do the Daily Show.

He's ruining what Jon Stewart built.

by Anonymousreply 107August 24, 2021 2:41 PM

I'm surprised he hasn't been replaced yet.

Surely, the ratings can't be good.

by Anonymousreply 1May 19, 2021 12:29 AM

He looks cute in that picture tho.

by Anonymousreply 3May 19, 2021 12:51 AM

Well, on the bright side, insufferable Lilly Singh doesn't have a show anymore.

by Anonymousreply 5May 19, 2021 1:13 AM

Not even the return of Jon Stewart could save the Daily Show now. Same goes for Stephen Colbert and his late-night snoozefest.

They should never have left in the first place.

by Anonymousreply 6May 19, 2021 1:21 AM

He's unfunny, untalented and strangely smarmy. He's always seemed like a phony, like he doesn't believe all that he pretends to. I get a similar vibe from John Oliver, constantly screaming about American imperialism yet married to rich republican military trash.

by Anonymousreply 8May 19, 2021 4:28 AM

It’s disgraceful that Jon Stewart was replaced by this unfunny hack who isn’t even American. There weren’t any funny people in New York they could have chosen?

by Anonymousreply 10May 19, 2021 4:47 AM

Trevor Noah is funny.

I remember during a writers' strike Jon Stewart had to improvise, and was not funny at all. He became popular because people liked the irreverence and politics.

by Anonymousreply 11May 19, 2021 4:56 AM

Jon Stewart and to a lesser extent Stephen Colbert are among the reasons we got Trump. Stewart egged Trump on and then left before the 2016 election, making one of the few voices that could have encouraged young people to vote absent at one of the most critical times.

by Anonymousreply 12May 19, 2021 5:01 AM

I like that Amber Ruffin has her own show now but I think she would have been a great Daily Show host.

by Anonymousreply 13May 19, 2021 5:06 AM

r1 Fallon is less funny than Trevor, and just got a five-year contract renewal while being dead last in the ratings (under a million viewers a week).

by Anonymousreply 14May 19, 2021 7:55 AM

He gets away with a lot such as being not funny , racist and misogynistic because he is black and woke. Someone mentioned smarmy and yes that’s what he is cynical and smarmy.

by Anonymousreply 15May 19, 2021 8:07 AM

It took me a while to get used to him. I did. I loved him.

But now he's done whatever other liberal news comedy show has done: Quit being funny.

Every other segment is now some version of: White men bad. POC perfect victims.

If there was a drinking game where you had to drink a bottle of Jack every time Noah, Bee, Colbert, Oliver, and Myers talked race? We'd all be wasted every weekday night.

I still watch each of those. They saved me during Trump (esp Myers' A Closer Look). But now I usually fast forward to see who the guest is.

by Anonymousreply 16May 19, 2021 8:16 AM

He is hilarious you must be a killjoy

by Anonymousreply 17May 19, 2021 8:16 AM

Not gonna watch him until he cuts his hair back to that sexy crew.

by Anonymousreply 18May 19, 2021 8:33 AM

He is hot and I want to see him naked.

by Anonymousreply 20May 19, 2021 8:35 AM

I knew nothing about him until I watched "Comedians in Cars" featuring him and I was ready to like him because he had an interesting career projectory/ back story. I can't put my finger on why I wasn't crazy about him, just something about his personality/ humor never clicked for me. He lacked that natural comedic charm some comics seem to radiate. Even Fallon, which I can't stand usually, proved why he's loveable/ charming in his personal episode. Made me wish he was more like his natural self on his show.

by Anonymousreply 21May 19, 2021 11:17 AM

He’s homophobic too. His jokes about lesbians were fucked up and he never apologized or even deleted them. Fuckhead.

He also mocked the couple in the gay cake case on the show.

by Anonymousreply 22May 19, 2021 11:28 AM

He's very funny. He's very smart. He's very handsome.

OP is incorrect.

by Anonymousreply 24May 19, 2021 11:30 AM

Name some comedians that you do think are funny – yet have said nothing controversial.

by Anonymousreply 25May 19, 2021 11:31 AM

Gays are the only he is definitely not funny. All he does are shitty accents.

by Anonymousreply 26May 19, 2021 11:35 AM

Until I read r8 I didn't realize John Oliver's wife Kate Norley worked for the right wing Vets For Freedom. That sure is something.

by Anonymousreply 27May 19, 2021 11:38 AM

He's quite the handsome men if short in the hair but not so much when longish.

by Anonymousreply 28May 19, 2021 11:54 AM

[quote]he had an interesting career projectory

OH.FUCKING.DEAR!

by Anonymousreply 30May 19, 2021 12:09 PM

If he was white and/or not anti-American, nobody would ever have heard from him. He's coasting on the fumes of wokism.

by Anonymousreply 31May 19, 2021 12:14 PM

He is not funny or talented. But boy is he adorable. I want him to sit on my face.

by Anonymousreply 33May 19, 2021 12:33 PM

Trevor Noah was a funny stand-up. Never liked the Daily Show after Craig Kilborn left (yes, I'm the only one I guess). BUT, it must be hard to do late night in the Orwellian PC times we are living in....

by Anonymousreply 34May 19, 2021 12:36 PM

He has a history of homophobia.

by Anonymousreply 35May 19, 2021 12:46 PM

Jesus freak. Hot but not funny at ALL.

by Anonymousreply 36May 19, 2021 12:49 PM

He’s incredibly funny and the show is actually pretty successful ratings wise. So OP, wrong on both counts.

by Anonymousreply 37May 19, 2021 12:50 PM

He's a token black. His job is safe until he dies.

by Anonymousreply 38May 19, 2021 1:02 PM

One of the funny things about Jon Stewart was his self deprecating manner. The jokes about whites / Jews landed well because of this. Like using the N word if you are black. And his political insight cut both ways.

That is why Trevor doesn’t come across as well with similar material. I think they are still writing for Jon and it sometimes comes across as antagonistic.

By the same token, he couldn’t pull off Showtime at the Apollo humor because it would come across as unauthentic due to his South African heritage.

I like him sometimes. But he doesn’t stand out.

by Anonymousreply 39May 19, 2021 1:06 PM

That annoying shtick of yelling at imaginary characters that he and Seth Meyers do make them unwatchable. How shrill interactions became a thing is beyond me.

by Anonymousreply 40May 19, 2021 1:16 PM

I agree, OP. I have seen funnier stuff on The Disney Channel when I am baby sitting my niece.

by Anonymousreply 41May 19, 2021 1:30 PM

[quote] He lacked that natural comedic charm some comics seem to radiate.

Nailed it, R17!

by Anonymousreply 42May 19, 2021 4:02 PM

The P.C. police will be knocking on op's door in 3.... 2..... 1....

by Anonymousreply 43May 19, 2021 4:03 PM

He’s beautiful though. Hate the mini fro.

by Anonymousreply 44May 19, 2021 4:05 PM

Noah may have been homophobic in his earlier years, but on the show he's been fine.

I still watch the show, but it lost something after COVID hit and he started broadcasting from home.

Too many of the jokes are silly and on a grade school level, making me wonder if the absence of in person meetings with the other writers has made the show lose its footing.

I'm presuming that when the show is back in the studio, the ratio of stupid jokes will change.

I will say this: most of the other "correspondents" are still enjoyable during their segments.

by Anonymousreply 45May 19, 2021 4:29 PM

He is awful. I watched one show after JS left and found him unfunny and unwatchable

by Anonymousreply 46May 19, 2021 4:35 PM

He’s incredibly bigoted yet falls back on the “I’m black so a martyr” schtick. Which is something he has in common with African-Americans actually. The crudest bigotry and racism I’ve ever heard come out of people’s mouths has always been from African-Americans.

by Anonymousreply 47May 19, 2021 4:39 PM

I always loved Jon Stewart. I stopped watching TDS after he left. I seem to remember Noah being something of a Bernie Bro, too, when I felt it was extremely unhelpful to discourage young people from supporting mainstream Democratic politicians, as those candidates were the only ones who had a chance winning elections.

by Anonymousreply 48May 19, 2021 4:52 PM

People give Trevor Noah a pass because he's somewhat attractive.

Unfortunately, he's not funny at all.

The Daily Show has always been smart, sharp, biting, sarcastic humor.

Trevor Noah has none of that.

by Anonymousreply 49May 19, 2021 7:41 PM

This hasn't been Trevor's week.

Minka Kelly dumped him.

by Anonymousreply 50May 20, 2021 12:24 AM

[quote]People give Trevor Noah a pass because he's somewhat attractive.

That’s not why he gets a pass or why he was chosen to replace Jon Stewart.

by Anonymousreply 51May 20, 2021 12:34 AM

I'd fuck him, then we could flip, but something tells me deep down he probably doesn't like the gays too much regardless of what he says on TV.

by Anonymousreply 52May 20, 2021 12:42 AM

He doesn't need to be funny with uncut South African cock.

by Anonymousreply 53May 20, 2021 12:45 AM

We started watching him last March and clung to his show for some kind of routine and 'normalcy,' also because he busted Trump on every show. But now when I see his show in our recordings list I just delete it. Not funny.

by Anonymousreply 54May 20, 2021 12:47 AM

R52 iirc he posted homophobic tweets back in the day. He’s South African after all.

by Anonymousreply 55May 20, 2021 12:48 AM

I found this poster on his wall.

by Anonymousreply 59May 20, 2021 12:56 AM

Why do we have a new thread on him when we just discussed his break up?

Anyway, I find that people either love him or hate him. He's doing something right because he remains on TV, so if you don't like him you must not be his target audience.

by Anonymousreply 60May 20, 2021 1:09 AM

I feel like he’s been winging it comically ever since he started doing the show from home. He’s funny, but not good enough to ad lib a show like TDS on a regular basis. I watch outtakes on occasion, but once he starts the shouty repartee shtick, I click off.

by Anonymousreply 61May 20, 2021 1:29 AM

[quote] He doesn't need to be funny with uncut South African cock.

You don't know that he's uncut.

by Anonymousreply 62May 20, 2021 5:42 AM

Love him, and he’s funny. Jordan Klepper’s MAGA segments are some of the best comedy in the history of the show.

by Anonymousreply 64May 20, 2021 8:38 AM

R47 You REALLY need to get our more. That rock is doing you no good.

by Anonymousreply 65May 20, 2021 9:21 AM

I have never found any of these people the slightest bit funny, and have a deep, instinctive loathing for Jon Stewart, whose smarmy behavior has always made my flesh crawl.

Late night television annoys me.

by Anonymousreply 66May 20, 2021 10:20 AM

I agree R66. All the audiences laugh like hyenas at the most witless jokes.

The audiences at the Bill Maher show also laugh like idiots when he's discussing the catastrophic idiocy of American society.

by Anonymousreply 67May 20, 2021 10:32 AM

Minka Kelly is like Olivia Munn except the men she dates are straight. She goes through men like kleenex so it's good that he got rid of her.

by Anonymousreply 68May 20, 2021 10:41 AM

Jon Stewart was always laughing at his own jokes and was a lousy interviewer, he made Joan Rivers look like Dick Cavett. Plus he aged terribly, I don’t know how he had a career after The State on MTV. Craig Kilborn was a better host.

by Anonymousreply 69May 20, 2021 10:50 AM

[quote] Stewart was always laughing at his own jokes and was a lousy interviewer,

Jesus H. Christ, it looks like he's retired from a whole lot more than that.

He has 'grown' into his natural face.

by Anonymousreply 73May 20, 2021 11:55 AM

r54 I remember watching the show with JS after 9/11. He was so fucking comforting and funny during a time when he had no idea what was going on in our country. TN brings none of that to the show

by Anonymousreply 74May 20, 2021 12:33 PM

r74 I think you are guys are just old now, like Stewart. 9/11 was 20 years ago. The show has to market itself to a new generation of viewers and Noah seems to fit whatever demo that is, millennials etc.. Noah will be guaranteed his job for at least the next few years, he has totally earned his keep in the last year alone. With racial relations practically collapsing the United States, he is essentially the perfect individual to host.

by Anonymousreply 75May 20, 2021 1:21 PM

Good comedy is timeless R75.

by Anonymousreply 76May 20, 2021 1:22 PM

Stephen Colbert is such a cuck. What a turn off.

by Anonymousreply 77May 25, 2021 10:28 AM

r69, Joan Rivers could be a genuinely great interviewer, up there with the best when she was on, knew just when to pull back.

by Anonymousreply 78May 25, 2021 10:42 AM

[quote] He gets away with a lot such as being not funny , racist and misogynistic because he is black and woke. Someone mentioned smarmy and yes that’s what he is cynical and smarmy.

You aren't his demographic. He would not appeal to a septaugenarian.

by Anonymousreply 79May 25, 2021 11:10 AM

[quote] Someone mentioned smarmy and yes that’s what he is cynical and smarmy.

All those late show hosts are smarmy aren't they?

They wear collar and ties on TV.

But you know they pick their nose, slob around the house and fart in their pyjamas.

by Anonymousreply 80May 26, 2021 10:19 PM

I feel like it's been ages since we heard from Jon Stewart. He released a film about a year ago, a political satire with Steve Carrell and Rose Byrne. The timing was very bad though. It appeared from the trailer to be one of those " let's roll our eyes at both sides" films and after the latest republican disaster, it just wasn't very appealing.

by Anonymousreply 81May 26, 2021 11:13 PM

But he ain’t funny though.

by Anonymousreply 82May 28, 2021 12:11 PM

You don't need to be hilarious when you've got a big cock.

by Anonymousreply 83May 29, 2021 12:11 AM

I can’t name a single current comedian who IS funny

by Anonymousreply 84May 29, 2021 12:13 AM

Jon Stewart got old real fast. John Oliver got old even faster. Trevor Noah was never funny and seems insincere. I liked the Stephen Colbert show that came on after the Daily Show, but what Colbert does now is boring.

by Anonymousreply 85May 29, 2021 12:16 AM

R84 Are you talking stand-up comedian? Or situation-comedy comedian?

by Anonymousreply 86May 29, 2021 12:16 AM

He’s a talentless homophobic piece of shit.

by Anonymousreply 87May 29, 2021 12:23 AM

He sneers at the audience.

by Anonymousreply 89May 29, 2021 12:28 AM

R47 The crudest bigotry and racism I’ve ever heard come out of people’s mouths has always been from African-Americans.

Racism doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It exists within a hierarchical structure with power at its core. Racism only works because one group has power and other groups do not. And it is white people who – historically, and in the West at least – hold the power when it comes to racial divides, thanks to centuries of Eurocentric beliefs and structures that continue to privilege whiteness. If you manage to read this, you'll see that it's impossible to be racist about white people.

by Anonymousreply 90May 29, 2021 12:45 AM

R90 These people might spoil your generalisation—

Aliko Dangote, $10.6 billion. Mike Adenuga, $9.1 billion. Robert Smith, $5 billion. David Steward, $3.9 billion. Oprah Winfrey, $2.7 billion. Strive Masiyiwa, $2.4 billion. Patrice Motsepe, $2.3 billion. Michael Jordan, $1.9 billion.

by Anonymousreply 91May 29, 2021 12:54 AM

It's not about wealth. There have always been fabulously wealthy black people - look at some of the leaders in Africa, going back centuries.

But when one group feels itself superior to another, just by virtue of being the "superior race", then that's racism. There are plenty of people who think Oprah and Michael Jordan are beneath them because they are of an inferior race. That's racism. Nothing to do with money or even the power of any individual person of a perceived "inferior" race.

by Anonymousreply 92May 29, 2021 1:00 AM

He's not funny, all he does is lecture the audience and hand-pick material that fits his agenda. Boring, and annoying . He also lacks the ability to laugh about himself.

by Anonymousreply 93May 29, 2021 1:07 AM

Noah admitted he's cut in an interview years ago you bitches and he's back with his "beard" the gorgeous Minka Kelly. Who is currently enjoying his cut dick while on vacation in St. Barts.

by Anonymousreply 94May 30, 2021 12:28 PM

I'm reading BORN A CRIME and it is funny and informative. I think he could be funny again. I think it must be hard to be a black entertainer right now--or ever, for that matter.

by Anonymousreply 95May 30, 2021 7:00 PM

I wish Comedy Central realized that he isn't funny. Even the ads prompting viewers to watch are shockingly unfunny. Noah is no Jon Stewart.

by Anonymousreply 97May 30, 2021 10:45 PM

Haven't watched TDS since Noah's first year as host. A lot of his political jokes seemed to be from his non-American outsider's perspective, as in, "You guys are SO fucked!". While true, it wasn't that funny to me.

>Never liked the Daily Show after Craig Kilborn left (yes, I'm the only one I guess). Gawd, I hope so. If there were a competition for most smug and smarmy, Kilborn would win hands down.

John Oliver had such promise, but he trying to be the most woke guy ever. Plus, someone told him or his writers that that adding the word "fuck"to any sentence is just hilarious. I am not offended by profanity, but using it doesn't fucking make any fucking sentence fucking funny, either.

by Anonymousreply 98May 30, 2021 11:12 PM

TPTB at the Daily Show were too afraid to turn it over to Jessica Williams, who was naturally the heir apparent.

Black girls weren’t as in vogue at that moment so they went safe with Trevor Noah. I do not agree with those politics but again I don’t have to if it’s funny. It is just not funny. At all. It’s actually aggressively UNFUNNY.

But yes he is handsome though, so I suppose there is that.

Noah's Trump impressions were funny, I thought. Now he doesn't have Trump as a comedy goldmine. The way he would relentlessly troll Eric was hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 102May 30, 2021 11:57 PM

I like Trevor but he can be too preachy. Jordan Klepper is hands down the best part of the show.

by Anonymousreply 103June 1, 2021 4:51 AM

I guess even Minka Kelly thinks he's not funny either.

by Anonymousreply 104June 3, 2021 1:34 AM

Can't watch Trevor, can't watch John Oliver.

Since Stephen Colbert has gotten sincere, I find him embarrassing.

by Anonymousreply 105June 3, 2021 2:19 AM

I agree, R105.

You can't wear the mask of a comedian simultaneously to wearing the mask of a Social Justice Warrior.

Each role neutralizes the other and plays the audience for fools.

by Anonymousreply 106June 3, 2021 2:54 AM
