The Noble Blood podcast did a great segment on EII confronting his homosexual love affairs without a lot of excuses of "best bros" but also saying he would not identify as "gay" by our standards. His biggest mistake was showing his wife disrespect and ignoring her in front of the court.

It was interesting in any case.

We know almost nothing of behaviour in that time.

She seems to do her research pretty well though R2. She admits it's difficult to know what they thought but sexual identities have changed a lot from then to "We're here and we're queer".

I think it's difficult to know and understand people from 150 years ago let alone 500.

So much speculation as to render it useless.

I read something by an historian years ago and I can't remember where, but the author was a gay man. He said he was sure Edward was openly gay, or open about his loves, because of the venom with which his contemporaries wrote about him. He said church writers in particular loathed Edward. I don't know if that's true or not, as I've never dug into the writings that much. But it made sense people at the time would hate Edward no matter what he did in regards to his rule if he was open about loving Piers and other men.
